Gingivitis

About 75% of Americans will experience gum disease at some point in their life. It sounds terrible, but this early stage of gum disease can be easily treated with proper oral hygiene.

When plaque builds up on teeth, it can strongly irritate the gums causing them to appear bloody, puffy, or inflamed. Managing gingivitis is extremely important, if you avoid it, it will form into a more serious type of gum disease.

Some things that may cause you to be more prone to gum disease:

-Smoking

-Stress

-Pregnancy

-Poor Nutrition

-Medications

-Chronic Diseases

To treat your gingivitis at home, brush with a soft toothbrush and anti-gingivitis toothpaste. Finish with a mouthwash and most importantly, floss daily! It is also extremely important to visit your doctor and dental hygienist at least every six months for an exam and professional cleaning.
